Prescription shorthand is Latin abbreviations in disguise. Here is the common set.
- BID — twice a day
- TID — three times a day
- PRN — as needed
- PO — by mouth
Amoxicillin 500 mg PO TID x 7 days
= 500 mg tablet, by mouth, 3x daily, for 7 days
